This flag represents the Basques living in America. A design job that brings together the star spangled banner and the basque Ikurrina.

The design needed to be generous, where both flags sacrifice for each other.

The US flag welcomes the ikurrina by not celebrating the 50 states but its basque citizens who had been welcome since 1517.

The basque ikurrina lets the original stripes color, that represents the hardiness and valor of those who came, to flow in and adapts its pattern thickness to fit perfectly in its new home.

A visual celebration of the way Basques, with hardiness and valor, have woven ourselves into the diverse American culture. It is a gift to all the 35 Basque Centers around the country.

The United States of America welcomes the basques by giving them representation and lets its original red color that represents the hardiness and valor of those who came

Swapping the 50 states symbol by the one that represents the basques living on all those states but keeping the 13 original stripes and the original red symbolizing the hardiness and valor of the basques who have been coming here since 1517.

The most beautiful part is the original American red bleeds into the Ikurrina and the Ikurrina proportions adapts to the 13 stripes perfectly.

I call it the American Ikurrina.
